Resolution:
While most content is still 1080p or lower, the vast majority of TVs on sale today are 2160p (4K UHD or 3840 x 2160 pixels). An acronym for high dynamic range and it has become the standard in better TVs. HDR simply means a larger difference in brightness between the darkest areas of the image and the brightest areas. It doesn't sound like much, but the lack of contrast (the form of comparison is washed out) in LED TVs has long been an issue, especially at the input level.
HDR format support:
One of the real ironies in the TV industry is that Samsung, arguably the top player, doesn't support Dolby Vision. Nearly all other vendors do (though not on every model).
All HDR TVs support HDR10 as a base, but HDR10 only sends adjustment information to the TV once, at the beginning of the movie. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ transition it continuously throughout the movie, so each scene (per frame, if needed) can be adjusted independently.
Contrast:
Contrast is the distance in brightness between the darkest and brightest points in an image. Part of HDR is also increasing the contrast. A high-contrast TV is an HDR TV. Anyway, the higher the contrast, the more subtle detail the TV can deliver.
