While the companies that make the most popular TVs focus their efforts on making the best flagship TVs, they are starting to move away from making cheap TVs.

Some manufacturers still do, and you can find a decent 4k TV for under $300, but it won't have many features, the picture quality won't be exceptional, and they'll usually be available in smaller sizes. This is fine to have as a secondary TV in a bedroom or kitchen, but may not be ideal as a primary TV for watching 4k movies or playing games.
