Best Sounding TVs of 2023

No home entertainment system can deliver a great experience without the right sound quality, even if you get the best picture quality from your TV. Just like in a movie theater or stadium, sound plays an important role in immersing the audience. TVs are getting thinner and thinner, and that means less space for proper speakers.
Even so, modern TVs can get loud, some of them have decent bass and deliver clear and intelligible dialogue, but the sound quality is still nothing compared to a setup of suitable sound. Here is our recommendation of what we consider the Best Sounding TVs of 2023.
Top picks
The LG G1 OLED is an impressive OLED TV with a unique design. Instead of a stand, it comes with a special wall mount that allows it to sit against the wall. Despite the slim profile, it has a good frequency response with better bass than most TVs, and it gets louder with a well-balanced sound profile. However, there is some distortion when listening at maximum volume.
This TV is a lower-end model in LG's 2021 lineup but delivers nearly identical picture quality. It delivers exceptional OLED picture quality thanks to the near-infinite contrast. The motion looks smooth as it has an extremely quick response time, and it removes 24p judder from any source, which helps with the appearance of motion in movies.
The TCL 6 Series / R646 2021 QLED is the best-sounding TV with an LED panel we've tested. Having an LED TV is good if you're worried about the burn-in risks associated with OLED, so you can seamlessly watch the news or your favorite sports channel and not have to worry about damaging the screen.
This TV has a decent frequency response, which is good enough for most content, but it doesn't produce as deep bass as a dedicated subwoofer. Also, there's minimal distortion even at high listening levels, which is great.
This TV has worse darkroom performance than the TCL 6 Series / R646 2021 QLED because its IPS panel has low contrast and average local dimming, but it has wide viewing angles and the picture is still accurate when viewed from the side. Its speakers sound similar to those on the TCL and it has better bass, but you still won't get the real rumbling and thumping you'll get when using a subwoofer.
This TV has plenty of gaming-friendly features like HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, variable refresh rate (VRR) support, and low input lag. However, as mentioned, this is not a good choice for gaming in a dark room, and the local dimming works worse in Game Mode.
This TV doesn't have gaming features like VRR support like the Vizio M7 Series Quantum 2021, but it uses Android TV as the smart interface, there are a lot of apps available for download. It also has better picture quality because it's brighter and the local dimming works better, so it's a better choice for both dark and bright rooms.
However, the sound quality is not as good as there is more compression and distortion and the audio profile is not well balanced at maximum volume, but it is still good enough to hear the dialogue. It supports Dolby Digital and DTS formats for ARC and optical pass-through.

Performance/Display
Find the best-sounding TVs from the Best TV brands with OLED or QLED screens. QLED displays use Quantum Dot technology to produce over 1 billion shades, for a wider and richer color gamut. Often, these monitors are replaced with layering technology (e.g. Direct Full Array 16X technology to optimize contrast) or the α7 GEN processor working to render color accurate to every detail.
Remember to look for a screen that's at least 4k, four times the pixel count of a standard HDTV display. Second, look for a minimum refresh rate of 120Hz, which helps produce blur-free with high-motion images. This is especially useful for gaming and watching sports.
Sound Quality
Our preference is for the best sounding 4K, QLED, and OLED TVs to incorporate Dolby Atmos, beating surround sound by adding height channels to create the illusion of sound as a three-dimensional object. Watch a bomb blast on the screen and feel as if the bombs are falling from the air.
Smart Features/Interface
Our favorite best-sounding TVs feature an intuitive smart TV operating platform like LG's WebOS and Samsung's SmartHub/SmartThings platform that lets you explore and find new content using navigation menus. HDMI 2.1 ports, built-in Alexa, and the Google Assistant even allow voice commands for playback functions to search, play, skip, fast forward, and more, in addition to controlling the smart devices in the home.
Choosing a TV with the best sound can mean the difference between a messy and messy sound or a rich and immersive audio experience. Our reviews focus on performance/display, sound quality, and interface/user experience. We hope that you can find the Best Sounding TVs for yourself.
