If you're fed up with the high cost of a TV subscription, maybe it's time to cut the cord and consider using an antenna. That's right, TV antennas are still around, and they're much less picky now than those "rabbit ears" one had to fumble with years ago.

Here is our list of what we consider The Best Clearstream Antennas of 2023.

Top picks

  1. Antennas Direct ClearStream FLEX Amplified TV Antenna

Out of all the antennas in our latest round of tests, the Direct ClearStream Flex Antenna was the most stable. It consistently ranks as the highest or closest in terms of received channels, and in our engineering tests, it produced a strong signal with relatively low noise.

Part of this performance can be attributed to the fact that it's a bit larger than average, but it's still small enough to mount discreetly and is reversible with black and white sides. It comes with a USB-powered detachable amplifier, and it includes a total of 15 feet of cable. Of the antennas we've tested, this is one of the few that isn't hardwired to the cable, so you can use a different cable if you want.

  1. Antennas Direct ClearStream 2V TV Antenna

Direct antenna receives broadcast signals from many TV channels. With its compact ankh-shaped and omnidirectional reversible design, the ClearStream antenna is certainly one-of-a-kind. This omnidirectional antenna comes with adhesive clips to attach to your window, very convenient.

  1. Antennas Direct Clearstream 4 TV Antenna

If there are several broadcast towers around your house, you can't go wrong with this antenna. The antenna boasts a patented design to access a larger frequency range than other antennas. Because this antenna comes with a wide-angle beam, less rotation is required. Also, it can receive signals from multiple towers easily. The reception can be extended to VHF frequencies with the use of a reflector.

Buying Guide

If you're shopping for a TV antenna, you're in luck because we've laid out specific considerations for you. But before choosing the first TV antenna you see at the store, you need to make sure you're buying an antenna that's right for you.

Location and range:

If you're near a city, you can do it with a small indoor antenna, as you'll have several stations within a 10 or 20-mile radius that can be pulled to without an overhead amplifier or large power amplifier. If you're more than 20 miles from the local broadcast tower, you'll want to upgrade to an amplifier model. Any antenna rated for 50 miles or more will be a large outdoor unit.

Indoor or outdoor:

Whether or not you get an outdoor antenna will depend a lot on the building you're in and its surroundings, as obstacles like walls and even trees can prevent a signal from passing through the indoor antenna. Outdoor antennas are larger and perform better when placed as high as possible - roof poles are ideal.

Non-amplified or amplified:

Amplifying antennas use additional signal strength boosters that can make weak signals clear with a little water. But that also means you have to plug in another device and a different electrical outlet. It also means a higher price tag.

Non-amplified indoor antennas typically sell for about $30, but there are plenty of cheap TV antennas on sale for less than $20 that offer acceptable performance. An amplified antenna offers better performance and will cost $30 to $100.

Final Thoughts

Our TV antenna reviews combine careful testing and real-world reviews to find the best Best Clearstream Antennas available, from basic indoor antennas to amplifier models and larger outdoor antennas.

In each review, we not only test performance, comparing how many channels are pulled in and whether those channels are viewable, but also the equipment that comes with the antenna and how easy it is to set up and use. We also provide a buying guide on how to get the best reception with whatever TV antenna you have.
